ERASMUS+ THE VALUE OF FACING SCHOOL


La Fundación Isabel Gemio coordinates the ERASMUS PLUS project – 2021-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000031593 ‘THE VALUE OF FACING SCHOOL: THE INCLUSION OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASES, MUSCULAR DYSTROPHIES, AND OTHER RARE DISEASES IN THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM’, with the following European partners:

  • Universidade de Évora (Portugal),a center for the creation, transmission, and dissemination of culture, science, and technology, which, through study, teaching, and research, plays a fundamental role in society.
  • Fondation Maladies Rares (France), which has the legal status of “Foundation for Scientific Cooperation,” a private non-profit organization that promotes research projects and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of rare diseases.
  • La Federación Española de Enfermedades Neuromusculares (ASEM) (Spain), a non-governmental organization that brings together associations and foundations for neuromuscular diseases. Currently, it represents more than 60,000 affected individuals throughout Spain.
  • Parent Project per la Ricerca sulla Distrofa Muscolare (Italy), an association of patients and parents with children affected by Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy.
  • Uniamo Federazione Italiana Malattie Rare (Italy), a representative body of people with rare diseases that has more than 150 member associations.
  • C.E.I.P. Clara Campoamor de Málaga (Spain), a public bilingual primary school that uses research, experimentation, and educational innovation as a fundamental part of practical teaching.


The main objective of the project THE VALUE OF FACING SCHOOL is the creation of a network for cooperation, improving the methodology of work, and the activities and practices of the organizations and institutions involved. Additionally, the initiative will develop the capacity of organizations to work in a transnational and multisectoral context, to address different priorities and needs, and to generate a change in educational methods for students with muscular dystrophies.
